My name is Zsofia Ivanyi, working as a life and business coach in Budapest, Hungary. There are many things I love about my job (actually, it is rather hard to refer to it as a job, it feels more like a paid hobby) but what I enjoy the most is that I have the opportunity to help people to get to know themselves, their potential and possibilities better.
I used to work as a journalist, covering mainly cultural topics: movies, theatre and literature. Occasionally I also worked as a creative writer for socially responsible campaigns.
After seven years (yes, the magical seven years) my love for journalism faded, I needed a change. However, I had no idea what to do with my life: I felt rootless, aimless and deeply bored. Then I found coaching; or more like, coaching found me as one of my friends who had been working as a life coach for a while offered to coach me, hoping that it might help to figure out what I wanted to do with my life.
I was pretty skeptical. How come she does something like a shrink, but she’s not a shrink? How come we focus on the present and the future and not on the past? How come most people experience change in their life after a few sessions? But I had nothing to lose and was curious, so I let her coach me.
One year later I enrolled at a coaching school from where I graduated in 2016.
Working as a coach makes me really happy. It’s exciting, colorful and fun, with limitless opportunity to learn about human nature — including my own. Moreover, helping others is a really great feeling. Probably the best.
